Oyez! Oyez! Attention all scribes and heralds of the noble Kingdom of AEthelmearc! The Shire of Misty Highlands is pleased to welcome you all to attend this winter's Heralds' & Scribes' Collegium. Many scribal arts and heraldic classes will be offered and opportunities for learning and sharing knowledge will abound. If you would like to teach a scribal arts class, please contact Hrefna fruþikona Þorgrímsdóttir (Raven Fagelson) at hreafnN at yahoo.com. If you would like to teach a heraldry class, please contact Baron Fridrikr Tomasson, Keystone Herald (Tom Ireland-Delfs) at fridrikr at thescorre.org. Classes will be held from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a lunch break at noon.

In addition of the day's educational activities there will be an A&S forum where artisans can display their skills at scribal arts and/or heraldry and discuss their work in an informal atmosphere. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the forum, please contact our A&S Minister, Lady Rota Egilsdottir, at mhartssciences at mistyhighlands.org. A heraldic consultation table will also be available for gentles to place and discuss submissions. Please contact our local herald, Lady Anlaith ingen Trena, at mhherald at mistyhighlands.org regarding the consultation table.

The event will be held at Prickett's Fort State Park (No Street Address, Fairmont, WV 26554) on Saturday, December 13, 2008. Site will open at 9:00 AM and close at 7:00 PM. The site is discretely damp and consumption is limited to the park's buildings. Pets must be leashed at all times and are not permitted in buildings. Smoking and open flames (other than those administered by site staff) are prohibited within the buildings and within the walls of the fort.

The stewards for this event are Lady Rota Egilsdottir and Lord Bjorn bunhauss Olafsson (Alicia & BJ Lyons, RT 1 Box 117 Grafton, WV 26354, rotaegilsdottir at yahoo.com and wbjlyons at yahoo.com).

Site fee is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 5-12 years of age. Children under 5 years old are free. Lunch is included in the site fee. Please send reservations to Lady Rota Egilsdottir (Alicia Lyons) at the address above. Please make checks payable to "SCA, Inc. - Misty Highlands". Also, please include mundane name, SCA name, contact info and membership number with your reservation. As usual, a $3 surcharge will be assessed on anyone not able to provide proof of membership the day of the event.

Lunch will be prepared by Barbara du Lac (Barbara Lyons, b_lyons at yahoo.com). If you have any dietary concerns, please contact our lunch lady prior to December 5, 2008.

Directions:

From the North: Take I-79 South to WV Exit 139 (East Fairmont & Prickett's Creek Road). Turn right off the ramp onto Prickett's Creek Road.

From the South: Take I-79 North to WV Exit 139 (East Fairmont & Prickett's Creek Road). Turn left off the ramp onto Prickett's Creek Road.

Everyone: Follow Prickett's Creek Rd. It will end in less than half a mile at a T-intersection. Turn left onto Meadowdale Rd. and in just a few yards turn right onto Prickett's Fort Rd. Follow Prickett's Fort Rd. for 2 miles. Shortly after crossing the creek for the third time take a right. The visitor center parking lot will be on your right. Or you could just follow the brown signs for Prickett's Fort State Park.
