A loud cry has resounded throughout the hills and forests of our shire, signaling the commencement of battle! The Visigoths have attacked and all Roman citizens have been charged with the defense of their beloved empire. Warriors of all kinds are encouraged to lend their aid, whether their allegiances lay with the Visigoths or with the Romans. Rattan fighters, fencers, throwers, and artisans will all determine the fate of the Shire of Misty Highlands with their respective talents and skills.
Come join us for a weekend of fighting, merriment, and good-natured competition at Indian Meadows Campground (67 Days Run Road, Pentress, WV) on September 11-13th, 2009. Prizes will be given to those warriors whose merit determines them to be the winner. We will also be holding a 50-50 raffle to raise general funds for the shire. Tickets may be purchased at troll.
A warrior cannot live by battle alone, therefore, a scrumptious sideboard will be provided on Saturday for all in need of sustenance, prepared by the hands of Barbara du Lac (Barbara Lyons, b_lyons@yahoo.com).
After a long day of battle, the bards and dancers are encouraged to take the forefront Saturday night to entertain the war weary warriors at a party in honor of Misty Highlands’21st Birthday. Come help us celebrate this momentous occasion by raising a glass and taking a walk down memory lane. And, yes, this is a WET site.
The fee for this weekend of fun is $15.00 for individuals 18 years of age and older, $14.00 for ages 13-17, $7.00 for children ages 6-12, and little ones 5 and under are free. There is ample space for tent camping at no additional charge. Please send reservations to Lady Rota Egilsdottir (Alicia Lyons, RT 1 Box 117, Grafton, WV 26354) and make checks payable to “SCA, Inc. – Misty Highlands.” It would be most appreciated if you would also include your mundane name, SCA name, contact info, and membership number with your reservation. As always, a $3.00 surcharge will be assessed on anyone not able to provide proof of membership the day of the event.
Site opens at 5:00pm on Friday, September 11th and closes at 2:00pm on Sunday, September 13th. Troll will be open on Friday from 5pm to 11pm and on Saturday from 8am to 1pm. If you fail to check in during these time frames, please see our troll-in-charge, Lady Rota. Open flames are permitted, however, firewood that is not provided by the campground is prohibited. Pets are allowed as long as they remain leashed.
